Storm damage help
Hail damage is easy to miss from the ground. The April 2016 hailstorm cracked roofs and skylights across the North Side, and many leaks didn’t show until later storms.
In South Texas heat and humidity, wet materials start breaking down quickly. Mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours, so drying early protects more of your home.
Bexar County has many low-water crossings, and creeks like Salado and Leon rise fast.
Homeowners, property managers, and business owners across Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Medina, Kendall, and Wilson counties call us after storms all year round.
Call Now (830) 250-6060Hail and wind tarping, Salado and Leon creek flood cleanup, attic insulation replacement, drying in the heat, and rebuilding.
A hail leak in one room often dries in a few days. Creek-flooded first floors usually take several weeks.
Pricing depends on how much of the roof hail cracked, whether Salado or Leon Creek water got inside, drying in the heat, and the rebuild.
A free inspection and estimate before any work starts.
Right after the storm
Once the storm has passed and everyone is safe, these steps protect your home and your insurance claim. If there are downed power lines or a tree on the house, stay back and call 911 or CPS Energy first.
Not sure what needs to happen first? Call and walk through it with our crew.
Call (830) 250-6060Take photos and video of the roof, the outside, every damaged room, and your belongings before anything is moved or cleaned up.
Move belongings away from leaks, put buckets under drips, and close off rooms where water is coming in. Leave the roof to a crew.
Open a claim and write down the claim number and your adjuster’s name.
Hold on to damaged items until your adjuster has seen them, and save receipts for tarps, emergency repairs, and hotel stays.
Bexar County crossings flood fast, and the water can be deeper than it looks.
Treat every downed line as live, and stay away from water, fences, or trees touching one.
A wet, damaged roof is slippery and may not hold your weight. Tarping is a job for a crew with the right equipment.
Water from outside can carry sewage and debris and hide electrical hazards. Six inches of moving water can knock you down, and a foot of it can carry a car.
Pay as the work gets done, and get every detail in writing.
Texas law forbids contractors from covering or rebating your deductible.
Common storm damage
Hill Country hail, creek flooding, and Gulf moisture shape the storm damage we see across Bexar County.
Spring supercells over San Antonio can drop hail that breaks skylights, cracks tile, and dents AC units.
Heavy rain pushes Salado, Leon, and other creeks over low-water crossings and into nearby homes.
Severe storms can lift roofing and drop live oak limbs onto homes.
Tropical systems drifting inland can bring days of heavy rain to the San Antonio area.
Rare hard freezes can burst pipes, as the February 2021 storm showed across Texas.
South Texas heat and humidity let mold spread quickly in wet walls and attics.
How we help
First we close the house: tarping hail and wind damage and pulling out standing water.
We trace water through the attic. Moisture meters follow hail leaks from the decking to the insulation and ceilings.
We pull out what won’t dry. Blown-in attic insulation soaked by hail leaks, sagging ceilings, and anything creek water touched are removed.
We dry in the heat and rebuild. Readings must match a dry room before we rebuild the interior.

What can be saved
In San Antonio homes, outcomes depend on the material, whether hail-leak rain or creek water reached it, and how fast drying starts in the heat. The inspection confirms each item.
These clean well after sanitizing.
Hill Country limestone and South Texas stucco shrug off rain. Our crew dries the inside face and checks the studs behind it.
Original pine floors in older homes can often be dried slowly.
Ceilings under hail leaks often come down; firm walls can dry.
Rain-wet carpet dried fast may be saved.
Heavy mesquite and oak pieces generally recover when they’re lifted out of standing water early.
Have them tested.
Family photos and papers should dry flat somewhere cool. A document specialist can often restore them.
Blown-in attic insulation and carpet pad that soaked up water mat down and are replaced.
Contaminated water soaks the padding.
Throw it out.
After major Bexar County hailstorms, out-of-state roofers pour in. Texas law makes it illegal for any contractor to waive or rebate your deductible.
Compare written bids from established San Antonio contractors, pay as work is finished, and call your insurer before signing.
If a roofer offers to cover your deductible, report it to the Texas Attorney General’s consumer line at (800) 621-0508.
Help beyond the storm
Every job starts with a free inspection and estimate. Here’s how the 24 Hour Flood Pros team helps with each type of damage.

Lightning strikes during severe storms can start attic fires. Soot is acidic and keeps staining surfaces, so cleanup starts early. We remove soot, treat odor at the source, clean what can be saved, and rebuild what can’t.

Our process
Call (830) 250-6060 any time, day or night, including weekends and holidays. Tell us what happened and where water is getting in. We’ll send a crew right away.
We tarp roof openings and board up broken windows and doors, so the next rain stays outside.
The 24 Hour Flood Pros team checks how far the water spread, from the attic to the crawlspace. We use moisture meters to find water hiding inside walls and under floors. We take photos of all the damage for your insurance. The inspection is free.
Standing water is pumped out and drying equipment goes in. Anywhere floodwater reached is cleaned and sanitized.
Soaked insulation, sagging drywall, and carpet pad come out. Drywall that stayed firm stays up and dries in place, so we only replace what really needs it.
We test the wet rooms with a moisture meter, then compare them with a dry room elsewhere in the house. When the wet rooms read close to the dry one, they’re dry.
When you’re ready, the 24 Hour Flood Pros team fixes the damage. We replace drywall, install cabinets, and finish with fresh paint. Our goal is to make your home look the way it did before.
We walk through the finished work with you to make sure you’re happy with everything. Then we send the final records to your insurance company to close out the claim.

Insurance and claims
Most homeowners policies cover sudden damage from wind, hail, and falling trees, including rain that gets in through a storm-damaged roof or window. Flooding from rising water is different. Standard homeowners policies typically don’t cover it, and flood insurance generally takes effect 30 days after you buy it.
Some policies have a separate deductible for wind and hail, so check yours before you start repairs.
Your policy decides what’s covered, not us. We work with all major insurance carriers, including State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, American Family, Travelers, and Nationwide. We bill your insurance directly for damage your policy covers.
If a claim stalls, you can file a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance, (800) 252-3439.

Common questions
A crew can be there within 45 minutes. We work 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. After a big storm, we stop active leaks first, then do the full inspection.
Most policies cover sudden damage from wind, hail, and falling trees, and the rain that gets in through that damage. Flooding from rising water usually needs a separate flood policy. Limits and deductibles vary, so check your policy or ask your agent.
Storm damage is what wind, hail, or a fallen tree does to your home, plus the rain that comes in through the openings. Flood damage comes from water that rises outside and covers land that is usually dry. The difference matters, because insurance treats them differently.
We don’t recommend it. A wet, damaged roof is slippery and may not hold your weight. From the ground, move belongings away from leaks and put buckets under drips, then call us.
From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, and vents, missing or cracked shingles, and shingle granules collected at the bottom of downspouts. Inside, check for ceiling stains and wet insulation in the attic. Have a roofer inspect the roof itself.
Be wary of anyone who knocks on your door right after a storm, asks for full payment up front, or offers to cover your deductible. Call your insurance company first, get more than one estimate, and remember that Texas law forbids a contractor from covering your deductible.
Drying out a room or two usually takes a few days. Ceilings, walls, or floors that need rebuilding take longer, and a roofer may need to finish first. Your estimate includes a schedule.
It depends on how much water got in, how long it sat, what has to be removed, and how much needs rebuilding. The inspection and estimate are free, so you know the cost before any work starts. When insurance covers the damage, we send the itemized estimate straight to your adjuster.
Often, yes, in the rooms that weren’t damaged. If the roof is open, the power is off, or floodwater reached the living areas, it may make sense to stay somewhere else. We’ll tell you what we see after the inspection.
