We can’t rebuild on wet framing. We extract the standing water, set up dehumidifiers and air movers, and take moisture readings every day until the floors and framing test dry.

Rebuild help

On Maui, waiting on a second contractor can mean weeks before anyone even orders materials. The new company has to visit, price the job, and get the adjuster’s okay, and the barge schedule only starts after that.
With one crew from cleanup to rebuild, that wait shrinks. We already hold the moisture logs, the photos your adjuster accepted, and the measurements, so ordering can begin once the scope is signed.
Older plantation homes in Wailuku, Paia, and Makawao often have single-wall construction, wood floors, and raised foundations. Walls opened after a leak sometimes reveal termite damage too. If a home was built before 1978, federal rules require certified renovators to handle lead paint.
Homeowners, landlords, and businesses from Kahului and Wailuku to Kihei, Lahaina, and Upcountry call us whenever damage strikes.

Before repairs start
A good rebuild starts before the first sheet of drywall goes up. These steps help the repairs go right the first time and keep your claim on track.
Not sure if you’re ready to rebuild? Call and talk it through with our crew.
Call (833) 243-5663Ask for moisture readings before the walls are closed. Framing and subfloor sealed in while wet can grow mold behind new drywall.
A detailed estimate shows exactly what’s being replaced, so you and your adjuster can compare it with the approved claim.
Keep a piece of the flooring, a cabinet door, or a photo of the trim. It makes matching what was there much easier.
Building permits on Maui come from the County’s Department of Public Works, through its Development Services Administration. The County decides which repairs need one.
If you want something better than what you had, decide before work starts. Insurance usually pays to replace what was there, and you pay the difference.
Mold can grow behind the new drywall, and you may end up tearing it out again.
State law requires a licensed contractor for any job over $1,500 in labor and materials, or any job needing a permit. The DCCA has warned Maui homeowners to verify licenses.
Pay as stages are completed. Hiring a licensed contractor also keeps you eligible for the state’s Contractors Recovery Fund.
Work that isn’t in the approved claim may not be paid. Get the scope in writing first.
Many plantation-era homes were painted long before 1978. Ask for lead-safe RRP certification before old paint is sanded or cut.
What we rebuild
Most rebuilds come down to the same handful of jobs. Here’s what each one involves.
We replace drywall or single-wall panels and blend the finish into the room. Ceilings stained by roof leaks during heavy rain come down and are rebuilt.
Wood, tile, vinyl plank, and carpet. Many older Maui homes have tongue-and-groove wood floors, and we search for boards with the same width and grain before refinishing the room together.
Cabinets that swelled from a leak or were damaged by fire are replaced, and counters are lifted off and reset or replaced.
On homes raised on posts, a long-running shower or toilet leak often rots the decking under the bathroom. We replace the decking, rebuild the wall, and re-tile so the room is solid again.
Damaged or termite-eaten framing is repaired or replaced, wet insulation comes out, and soft floor decking is cut back before new flooring goes in.
Baseboards, trim, and doors are matched to the house, and full walls are painted so the repair blends in.
How we rebuild
A good rebuild is one you can’t spot afterward. That means matching what’s already in the house, not just replacing what was damaged.
We check that it’s dry first. Before any wall is closed, we confirm the framing and subfloor read dry, the same way we check water damage: against a dry room elsewhere in the house.
We match what’s there. Paint color and sheen, wall texture, trim profiles, and flooring are matched to the rooms that weren’t damaged, so the repair blends in.
We handle the paperwork. We pull permits when the work needs them, schedule the inspections, and keep your adjuster updated with photos and a line-by-line estimate.

Repair or replace
Not everything has to be torn out and replaced. Here’s what we usually see once the space is dry. Your estimate gives you the real answer for your home.
Patched, taped, and textured to blend with the rest of the wall.
They can usually be removed and set back on new cabinets.
Cracks and small areas can be repaired. Large damaged sections are often replaced with drywall finished to match.
Boards that dried flat can often be sanded and refinished. Cupped or warped boards are replaced and woven in.
Tile on a solid, dry subfloor can often stay. Loose tile or a damaged subfloor means tearing it out.
Solid wood can often be repaired and refinished. Particleboard boxes that swelled are replaced.
Solid wood usually survives. MDF trim and hollow-core doors that swelled are replaced.
Plywood that dried firm can stay. Soft, delaminated, or rotted subfloor is replaced.
Laminate swells when it gets wet, and water trapped under vinyl plank has to be dried, so both are usually replaced.
After a soaking or heavy smoke, carpet and pad are usually replaced.
Wet or smoke-damaged insulation is replaced before the walls are closed.
On Maui, building permits come from the County’s Department of Public Works through the Development Services Administration. Painting and floor coverings usually don’t need a permit, while structural, electrical, and plumbing work generally does. The County makes the call for each job.
State law says a licensed contractor is required once labor and materials top $1,500, or whenever a building, electrical, or plumbing permit is needed. Check any contractor on the DCCA license search before work begins.
Homes built before 1978 fall under EPA’s lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule. Anyone disturbing paint in them needs certification, has to control lead dust, and must give you the Renovate Right pamphlet up front.
Before the rebuild
Every job starts with a free inspection and estimate. Here’s how the 24 Hour Flood Pros team helps with each type of damage.
We can’t rebuild on wet framing. We extract the standing water, set up dehumidifiers and air movers, and take moisture readings every day until the floors and framing test dry.

Kitchen fires and electrical faults cause much of what we see, and wildfire smoke can reach homes far from the flames. Soot is acidic and keeps staining surfaces, so cleanup starts early. We remove soot, treat odor at the source, clean what can be saved, and rebuild what can’t.

Haiku, Upcountry, and other wet areas give mold a quick start after a leak. We find the moisture source, contain the area, remove the mold, and dry the space out.

Winter kona storms can blow rain sideways through windows, roofs, and siding on the leeward side. We dry the structure, remove damaged materials, and repair the ceilings and walls inside.

Our process
Call (833) 243-5663 any time, day or night. Tell us what happened and whether the cleanup is done. We’ll send someone out to see the damage.
The 24 Hour Flood Pros team checks that everything is dry, measures every room that needs work, and notes what has to match. The inspection is free.
You get an itemized estimate, and we send it to your adjuster so the scope can be approved before work starts.
We match what was there, or help you pick upgrades if you want them. You’ll know any price difference before anything is ordered.
If the work needs a permit, we pull it and schedule the inspections along the way.
Framing, subfloor, and insulation are repaired first. Then new drywall goes up and is taped and finished.
Cabinets, flooring, trim, doors, and paint go in last. Our goal is to make your home look the way it did before.
We walk through the finished work with you to make sure you’re happy with everything. Then we send the final records to your insurance company to close out the claim.
We can pick up the rebuild. Call us, and we’ll check for moisture and termite damage before anything goes back together. The inspection is free.
Insurance and claims
When the damage is covered, the rebuild is usually part of the same claim as the cleanup. Your adjuster approves the scope, and we work from it with photos and a line-by-line estimate.
Many replacement cost policies pay part of the claim first and hold back the rest, often called recoverable depreciation, until the repairs are finished. Bringing the house up to current building code may need ordinance or law coverage, so check your policy.
Your policy decides what’s covered, not us. We work with all major insurance carriers, including State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, American Family, Travelers, and Nationwide. We bill your insurance directly for damage your policy covers.
If your claim stalls and your insurer won’t resolve it, the Hawaii Insurance Division within the DCCA accepts consumer complaints.

Common questions
Yes. We’ll inspect the space, check that everything is dry, and write our own estimate. If the drying wasn’t finished, we’ll tell you before any walls are closed.
Sometimes. Structural, electrical, and plumbing work generally needs a permit from the County’s Development Services Administration, while painting and new flooring usually don’t. Any job that needs a permit also needs a licensed contractor.
That’s the goal. We match paint, texture, trim, and flooring to the rooms that weren’t damaged. When an exact match isn’t available, we’ll show you the options before anything goes in.
Yes. Insurance usually pays to replace what you had, and you pay the difference for upgrades. Decide early, so materials can be ordered on time.

Look the company up on the state DCCA license search before you sign anything. On any job over $1,500, or any job that needs a County permit, the contractor must be licensed. If your home predates 1978, also ask for lead-safe RRP certification.
Drywall and paint in a room or two can take a few days. Kitchens, several rooms, or work that needs permits and inspections can take several weeks or longer. Your estimate includes a schedule.
Usually, if the kitchen and a bathroom still work. For bigger rebuilds, it may make sense to stay somewhere else, and many policies help pay for that. We’ll tell you what to expect after the inspection.
It depends on how much needs rebuilding, the materials and finishes, what has to match, and whether permits are needed. The inspection and estimate are free, so you know the cost before any work starts. When insurance covers the damage, we send the itemized estimate straight to your adjuster.
